Chris Kaufman, psychologist and executive skills expert, will give a talk at North Yarmouth Acadamy on Tuesday, October 22, from 7-9 PM. He is a VERY good speaker- entertaining, funny, and somehow able to make brain science and executive skills understandable to the average person. Little Roots I is the Early Childhood Music program at 317 Main designed to engage preschoolers (ages 3-5) who are ready and able to explore a new level of musical learning in a friendly and playful atmosphere.
Classes consist of creative movement, games, stories, rhythm, and musical activities. Each child can embrace themselves as energetic and imaginative preschoolers by exploring the elements of music through a range of musical styles which include lyrical blues, folk, Americana and Traditional music styles, laying a solid foundation for musical aptitude, musical literacy and above all, creative enjoyment.
Musical instruments are gradually introduced to further each child’s creative spirit through group play, exploration and curiosity.

LITTLE ROOTS II: Musical Foundations, ages 5 – 8
Thursdays, 1:30 – 2:15 pm. Up to 8 students.
Cost: $136 for 8 weeks. Begins Oct. 3, 2013.

This class offers children, ages 5-8, a pressure-free, developmentally appropriate transition before moving on to formal instrumental instruction.
The Musical Foundations program provides the opportunity to explore vocal development, rhythm, written notation, and musical symbols to lay a foundation that will inspire solid musical literacy and aptitude.
Students will explore beat, rhythm, melody, harmony, beginning notation, improvisation and expression in a fun and engaging group environment which assists in coordination, concentration and self-confidence.
Classes are held weekly for 45 minutes without a caregiver. Each class is designed to correlate to the National Music Education Standards for Early Childhood – standards specifying what children should know and be able to do as they sing and play instruments, create music, respond to music, and understand music. First Thursdays of the month, the Freeport Yoga Company will be offering yoga classes for children ages 3 - 6.

Animated film Hotel Transilvania Showing on Wednesday October 30, 2013 at 3:40pm. Running time 91 minutes, Rating PG. Come join us for this fun movie for the whole family. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
