Dear Friends of Immigrant Kitchens, Friday evening September 13, I'll be teaching how to make Greek chicken pie at the Freeport Community Center. It's flakey, delicious comfort food: layers of phyllo dough stuffed with chicken and rice. My husband's co-worker's dad, who is from a Greek village on the border of Albania, taught me how to make it. My daughter's classmates gobbled up a whole giant pie last spring, and some of them were so fired up they said they wanted to learn how to make it. (I've included some of them on this email and encourage them to come.) I always thought phyllo dough was hard to work with until Bill taught me how easy it can be. I can't wait to show you, hang out with people who love food and culture, and have a delicious dinner together.
Details: 6-9pm, BYOB, $15-35 (this is a fundraiser for the food pantry), Location: Freeport Community Center, 53 Depot St., Freeport, ME (3 blocks from LLBean). To reserve a spot email
Cheers,Lindsay Sterling, (09/10)
