This summer, The Fresh Air Fund will once again allow thousands of inner-city boys and girls to escape the hot, noisy New York City streets to enjoy the simple pleasures of summertime fun in the country! Volunteers simply want to share what they have with city children and introduce them to the joys of suburban or country life. Families find hosting so rewarding that more than 65 percent of all Fresh Air children are reinvited to visit the same host families year after year. First-time Fresh Air visitors are 6 to 12 years old and Fresh Air hosts range from young families to grandparents. All it takes is the willingness to welcome a New York City child to your community. The Fresh Air Fund, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.7 million inner-city children since 1877. For more information about becoming a Fresh Air volunteer host, please call Lisa Clement at 207-878-1998, or The Fresh Air Fund at 800-367-0003. Visit The Fresh Air Fund online at www.freshair.org." Parenting is full of challenges. Coming together to support each other and learn new skills is an amazing gift we can give our family. These weekends have been described by parents as “deeply nourishing” and “so important”. They are an opportunity for parents and children to settle into the practice of mindfulness- dwelling fully in the present moment together, look deeply at their relationships with each other, strengthen their capacities for loving and understanding, and have lots of fun! The program combines meaningful activities for parents and children together, a fun filled creative program for children and teens, and relaxation, discussion, teaching and meditation to help parents transform moments of reactivity and stress into true connection, learning and love! This special event will be held at beautiful Camp Glen Brook in Marlborough, NH. Programs developed by Fern Dorresteyn and Michael Ciborski, who combine their Waldorf back ground, experience as parents and nine years living and working with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh.
