"Death in Venice"
The Quartet will perform an inventive early Haydn string quartet; Beethoven's Op. 95, one of his most succinct yet creative works; and the 3rd Quartet of Benjamin Britten, his last and most autobiographical chamber composition.

This performance is the second half of a full day of classical music at the Lincoln Theater. At 12:30, Live at the Met in HD will feature Handel’s Rodelinda with beloved soprano, Renée Fleming. And at 7:30, the DaPonte will take to the stage. For people attending both musical events, there will be a one-time only ticket price of $35. In between, to add to the richness of the day, several Damariscotta restaurants are offering a special music-lovers discount of 10% off all entrees for people with tickets to both the opera and the concert. Tickets must be purchased at the same time either by calling the theater (563-3424) or in person at the theater box office (open Tues-Fri, 1-5pm).

Freeport Community Players annual holiday show, "Radio."
This is a family-friendly original staged version of the old 1940's-50's style radio shows, complete with skits, jingles and period musical numbers. Performances are on Friday and Saturday, December 2-3 at 7:30 and Sunday, December 4 at 2pm at the Freeport Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Come satisfy your need for sweets and help support a worthy organization just in time for Christmas. Open Gates Equine Rescue in New Gloucester is hosting a Chocolate Buffet at Wilbur's of Maine Chocolate Confections on Dec. 4, 2011 from 3pm - 5pm at 174 Lower Main St. in Freeport. This event will raise much needed money to help with the care and rehabilitation of the wonderful horses they have taken in. You will be able to indulge on platters upon platters of decadent chocolates and eat as much as you possibly can while you are there. Beverages are included as well as a special treat to take home to enjoy later.
