Winter Hill Farm, Freeport’s own raw milk dairy, has room for new customers to enjoy our fresh, not pasteurized whole milk and yogurt. At Winter Hill we milk a very rare breed of cow, the Randall, which was on the verge of extinction until just a few decades ago. "Empty of What"
"Emptiness" is a key concept in Buddhist practice and philosophy but it is often misunderstood -- either represented as a nihilistic void or a kind of transcendent nirvana removed from present experience. Actually the Buddhist notion of emptiness is based on our direct experience of reality when the obscuration of habitual thinking is removed or exhausted.

"Ego West and East"
When the early Buddhist translators used the English word 'Ego'in their translations they used the wrong word. Sadly, it has created many misinterpretations of Buddhism. The Tibetan term is sems and refers to the nonstop discursive thinking which we are unaware of but which completely dulls our direct experience of reality. 'Sems' is habitual thought which comments on every experience and in so doing removes us from that actual experience. Meditation is getting out of our habitual mind and into what is actually going on.

You will find people at the same level you are and others who are just learning to thread their machines! All skill levels are welcome! Rolling enrollment means there is no need to catch up, just come with a project in mind OR we can help you choose something beautiful and useful! Do you want to learn to install zippers or how to make buttonholes? Understand why we need to trim corners before turning a point and how to use all those mysterious “notions” at the fabric stores you visit. This is the place to take time for your own spirit while developing or honing your handwork skills!

Sublet for medical Student 9/24-10/22/2011: Visiting 4th year Medical Student from Waldorf Community in New York seeks housing for Vascular Surgery Clerkship at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Requires furnished room with WIFI or plug-in high speed cable. Ideally housing would be within 10 minutes walk of Maine Medical Center with own bathroom. Pluses would be off street parking and access to a kitchen and laundry machine, though no medical laundry would come to the house. I am Male, in my 30's and married. I love cats, dogs and gardens and am a respectful lodger. My wife is a eurythmist and we live up the road from Green Meadow Waldorf School. There will be times when I will keep unsocial hours as a Surgical Team Member and need a quiet environment and ease of coming and going at odd hours. Sadly the Medical School does not have any accommodation available for me during my visit so I am reaching out to you as the local Waldorf Community. The Penobscot River Restoration Trust is offering a free conservation photojournalism workshop with environmental photographer Bridget Besaw this fall that will focus on restoration of the Penobscot River as a central theme. The two-day workshop will be held September 17th and October 1st, allowing a two week period in-between for participants to go on a “photo shoot” focused on the river and the anticipated community benefits of the Penobscot River Restoration Project. Select photos resulting from the workshop will be exhibited in at least one public venue in the project area and may be used on the Trust website and in print materials used to raise awareness about the Penobscot Project.
