Greater CommunityItems can be listed for up to 3 weeks What: Coastal Youth 5K and Fun Run When: Saturday, April 30th 2011 9:00 AM Contact: Nancy Roderick, nancyrod@gwi.net, 729-5156 Brunswick~The 1st annual Coastal Youth Orchestra 5K and Fun Run, "Go for Baroque...out and Bach", is scheduled to be held on Saturday April 30th in Brunswick. The course is an out and back run and is generally flat and scenic, starting at the intersection of Old Pennellville and Pennellville Roads taking Pennellville Road, right onto Pennell Way, left and out to Simpson's Point Rd. to the end and returns to the start. The race is being held by the Coastal Youth Orchestra and will benefit the organization's music progams for youth in the area. CYO musicians will be playing music at the start, post race and at each mile marker! The Coastal Youth Orchestra's mission is to provide the best orchestral experience possible for young musicians. By promoting a supportive educational environment and a challenging, yet nurturing atmosphere, our conductors provide an ideal place for young musicians to learn and grow. Race fees are $25 for the 5K, $20 for 5K (18 and under). The first 100 5K runners to register will receive a t-shirt. Fun Run registration is $10 or $20 including a t-shirt. Fun run participants who'd like a t-shirt must preregister. The Fun Run will start at 9 a.m. and the 5K will follow at 9:30 a.m. Parking is available along the soccer field on Pennellville Rd. Race day registration and packet pick up will start at 7:30 AM. Mens and Women's divisions include 15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over. Timing will be by Diane Fornier. New Brownie troop in Freeport! I have volunteered to start a new Brownie Troop for second and third grade girls. Meetings will be on Tuesday, 3:30–4:30 at Morse Street School, starting on April 5.
