Parent - Toddler and Parent - Infant ProgramsParent - Toddler Classes Our parent-toddler classes offer a unique opportunity for parents and toddlers to explore together the wonderful world of the young child. They provide a gentle structure within which toddlers (up to young 3-year-olds) can begin to experience the world outside of the home with the security of a parent nearby. Under the guidance of a Waldorf-trained teacher, the classes aim to deepen understanding of the developmental stages of early childhood. Through household tasks and simple handwork projects, parents have the opportunity to observe how the teacher transforms these activities into education for the very young child. The classes also provide an opportunity for parents to come together in mutual support. We offer both Thursday morning and Friday morning classes that meet from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. and include a light snack. The beginning week of each new class includes a Wednesday afternoon (2:00 - 3:00 p.m.) orientation session designed just for the parents. Schedule for 2010-11 :Fall Class on Thursdays (September 16 – December 16) Fall Class on Fridays (September 17 – December 10) Winter Class on Thursdays (January 6 – March 17) Winter Class on Fridays (January 7 – March 18) Spring Class on Thursdays (March 31 – June 2) Spring Class on Fridays (April 1 – June 3)
Parent - Infant Classes We are introducing a Parent-Infant Class in September 2010 in hopes of supporting the new parent. The class is for parents with children approximately four to ten months old and is led by a Waldorf-trained teacher. Parents will discover how to understand, respect and enjoy the individuality of each baby. As we observe babies exploring their environment and gaining physical skills such as rolling, sitting, crawling and standing, we will learn ways to meet their needs at these different developmental stages. We will also share ideas about how to create a home life that supports healthy and joyful growth. Classes meet weekly on Thursday afternoons from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. and include a light snack for parents.
